All five generations enjoyed the wildlife, tranquility, quiet and fresh air. First arriving in 1976, my sister found this area on the pacific and loved it so much we all had to come and check it out in 1978. A local cattle farmer wanted to sell as he was in his late years and could not manage the property. We were looking at a larger property when this property owner asked us to buy his farm. So, As a family we bought the 100 acre (41 hectarea) land, Although there was no running water or electricity (We later found an antique crank Generator), a Gas freezer, gasoline water pump - My father was a great hunter for things I didn't know some of these things existed nor how to use them. Shortly after buying we started building my House. I learned so much, not just farming but maintenance of the truck, the water pump and generator, tractor mower, how to construct, plumb and wire my house. My daughter (Liana) was born at the Liberia Hospital in December 1978. Until we got the fencing up and building under control, it was the Horses and the Beast (Toyota Pick Up) that did the hard work as we attempted to tame and manicure the jungle around us. In 1984 we built my Parents House. Years passed without really noticing. Following my sisters death the farm was divided in half to give her inheritance to my niece. Now the family is reduced to Just the 3 generations here, and I am ready for the three "R"s - Reduce, Retire, Relax. Liana is more in charge now. She knows all the nooks and crannies having played and run wild all over the property.
Present day activity. All catastros are done. Letter from the ASADA with water availability is on file (see water permits here). No problems with Electricity, the Costa Rican Electric company just installed 3 phase power, new taller poles and new cables. New road is under construction. Sales have been great, 4 of the new owners are getting their construction permits. From 28 lots we now have just 14 lots with ocean and forested views.
